Many people in the Netherlands love gardening, and in spring, you can see well-maintained gardens filled with blooming flowers.
Even in urban areas with many apartment buildings, it’s common to see potted flowers on balconies or fresh flowers decorating living rooms.
Having flowers at home adds color to daily life and brings a little extra happiness to each day.
Here’s a list of places where you can buy beautiful flowers to brighten up your home!
1. Convenient Supermarkets
Supermarkets in the Netherlands always have a variety of cut flowers available. No matter which supermarket you visit, you’ll find flowers for sale.
You can usually buy a bouquet for around €4, and in spring, tulips are often sold in bundles.
If flowers start to wither, they are sometimes sold at half price, meaning you can get a bouquet for as little as €2!
For Serious Gardeners, Gardening Centers
If you’re looking for potted plants or houseplants instead of cut flowers, local florists and gardening centers offer a wide variety.
Gardening centers also have a great selection of flower bulbs, vegetable seedlings, and gardening supplies to help you create the perfect green space!
Flower Shops at Markets
Street markets often have flower vendors selling a variety of fresh blooms.
One of the most famous flower markets is Bloemenmarkt in Amsterdam, a floating market along the Singel Canal. It’s a popular tourist attraction where you can find a wide range of flowers, bulbs, tulips in spring, and even Christmas trees in winter.
Originally a local flower market, it has now become a tourist hotspot, so prices can be slightly higher.
With its colorful displays and diverse selection, visiting a flower market is not just about shopping—it’s a beautiful sightseeing experience as well!
