The Parade of Sinterklaas, Who is Sinterklaas?

Sinterklaas arrives in the Netherlands from Spain by steamship in November. In the Netherlands, large parades are held all over the country on the day of Sinterklaas' arrival.

the night before the celebration of Sinterklaas, children put their shoes near the fireplace or at the entrance. The next morning, the children find sweets and presents in their shoes.
