Belgium, the land of Manneken Pis, Chocolate, and Waffles.
Winter Wonders, a Christmas market held in Brussels, about two hours from Amsterdam, is the largest and most famous Christmas market in Belgium.
Grand Place
The Grand Place, the central square of Brussels, is one of the most beautiful squares in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Winter Wonders is a sprawling Christmas market that takes over the city of Brussels. Centered around the iconic Grand Place, it extends to landmarks like the Brussels Stock Exchange, Sainte-Catherine Square, and the square in front of the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie.
This massive event transforms the city into a festive wonderland!
Sound and Light Show
The main event of Winter Wonders is the sound and light show on the Grand Place.
Projection mapping will be projected onto the historic buildings of Grand Place.
It’s an installation that gives you the experience of feeling as if you’ve entered another world. When the show starts, everyone stops and immerses themselves in the Christmas world.
The beautifully illuminated Grand Place is truly breathtaking, and the nightly sound and light show held there is an absolute must-see!
Christmas market
A massive Christmas market stretches over 2 kilometers, featuring more than 200 stalls centered around the UNESCO-listed Grand Place.
The Christmas market will feature a variety of shops selling everything from tree ornaments to works by local artists, Belgian and Christmas food, Belgian beer, and mulled wine.
Don’t miss the freshly baked Belgian waffles. It’s worth waiting in line to eat.
When we visited in 2018, the market was cash only, so make sure you have somewhere between 50 cent coins and 20 euros in cash in your pocket.
It gets crowded after sunset. Beware of pickpockets.
Winter Wonders is a beautiful Christmas market to visit.
